Latin@ Fiesta
Friday, April 14, 6 - 9pm, Coats Campus Center

Food, Latin music, bouncy houses, pinatas, photo booth, fun and so much more! This will be fun for the whole family and we ask for donations for scholarships for Latino Club students.

Know Your Neighbor Warm Springs 101
Thursday, April 27, 6-8 pm, Trinity Episcopal Church, 231 NW Idaho in Bend

Arlita Rhoan, elder and Lead Teacher for the Warm Springs Culture and Heritage and Jefferson Greene, Ichishkin Language Teacher for Warm Springs and Mulit-Media Artist will give a talk with time for questions and answers about the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Intercultural Communication Workshops with Sonya Littledeer
(for students only)
Fridays, April 28, May 5 and May 12, 9 am - 1pm

This three-part 12 hour training (which can also be taken as a one-credit HD 199 course) explores the topics of diversity, cross cultural communication, power, and privilege. This is an excellent class for future teachers, health care workers, leaders or students who intend to work in a global environment. Space is limited to 20 students and breakfast and lunch will be served. To register, contact Gina Ricketts, rricketts@cocc.edu

Safe Zone Workshop for Staff/Faculty

Safe Zones are confidential and safe environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) individuals. This program offers education for our campus community on how to create a safer, more respectful environment for LGBTQ students and colleagues. National Poetry Month Workshops and Events
Join COCC Barber Library and Diversity and Inclusion in celebrating National Poetry Month 2017 with the following fun and educational events, featuring two renowned guest speakers: slam poetry champion MOsley WOtta and the current Poet Laureate of Oregon, Elizabeth Woody.

Diversity Achievement Award

The Campus Diversity Committee is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the annual Diversity Achievement Award.
Any staff or faculty who is currently employed, or any student who is enrolled in at least 6 units is eligible to be nominated as an individual or team for the Diversity Achievement Award. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Diversity Award Selection Committee in care of Christy Walker, Director, Diversity and Inclusion, 216 Campus Center by Friday, April 21, 2017. Nomination letters should address the nominees achievements in one of these four areas:

Criteria: (Nominee(s) may satisfy one or more of the following criteria.)
A. Nominee (individual or team) actively promotes the recruitment and retention of diverse groups to faculty, staff, administrative positions, and the student body (above and beyond their normal job duties and/or student obligations.)
B. Nominee (individual or team) works to bring enriching cultural and educational events to campus.
C. Nominee (individual or team) demonstrates efforts to create a climate of respect and understanding among staff, faculty, students, and/or the community at large.
D. Nominee (individual or team) is active in community service, on- and/or off-campus, that serves diverse populations.
