Petitions

  • Official Student Petition

In cases of exceptional circumstance, you can request an exception to a published academic policy by submitting the student petition form to Enrollment Services. Such policies may include but are not limited to late drop or withdrawal, late add, refund/waiver of tuition/fees after the published deadline, refund/waiver of late payment or late registration fees, changing to or from an audit, and course substitution and/or transfer policies.

You must submit the official student petition form (this link will take you to the Academic Forms page, find the form link in the list of forms and click to complete and submit). Documentation of your extenuating circumstance must be uploaded in order to submit your petition. Examples of supporting documentation include:

    • Medical circumstances (letter from a doctor or health provider, etc.)
    • Family circumstances (death certificate, obituary, etc.)
    • Academic circumstances (letter of support from instructor, etc.)

Each case is decided upon its own merits and the decision of the committee is final and not subject to appeal, unless there is information pertinent to the outcome which was not submitted at the time of the initial request. Convenience or lack of familiarity with published policy does not constitute sufficient justification for a petition. Petitions will be reviewed within five weeks of submission and once a final decision is made, an email will be sent to your COCC email address. Please call 541-383-7500 for more information or questions about petitions.

  • Residency Petition

If you think you are coded the incorrect residency in our system, you can request to have it changed by submitting the residency petition form to Enrollment Services. Please be sure to thoroughly read COCC's residency policy prior to submitting a petition.

You must submit the residency petition form and include supporting documentation either via email to welcome@cocc.edu, via fax at 541-318-3700 or in person to Enrollment Services at any COCC campus. Examples of supporting documentation (depending on situation) include: rental/lease agreement, state and federal income tax returns, property tax statements, military papers, high school diploma, or employment/payroll information.

Residency petitions will be reviewed within five weeks of submission and once a final decision is made, an email will be sent to your COCC email address. Please call 541-383-7500 for more information or questions about residency petitions.
