For registered new-first time students, returning students and transfer students.

Bobcat Orientation prepares you for classes, lessens anxiety, and helps you tackle the first three weeks of the term.

Sign-ups for students beginning Fall will open 7/1/2021! Check back for dates and more information.

Join us virtually on the free video conferencing service Zoom and lower stress and build confidence by:

  • Becoming familiar with your email, Bobcat Web and Blackboard accounts you use for communication and course work
  • Learning what instructors expect from you, your time, and the quality of your work
  • Knowing how to access academic resources and support
  • Accessing help for your emergency financial aid questions

Three days prior to orientation, you will receive instructions on downloading Zoom, the video conferencing tool you'll use to participate in the event. We will email you the actual link to join the day before in the afternoon.

Will Bobcat Orientation be offered in-person on campus?

There is no in-person option summer term. To maintain safety, we are only offering Bobcat Orientation virtually via the free video conferencing tool Zoom.

I’m Oregon Promise – how will I get credit for attending? 

You will be prompted to enter contact information as you join the event in Zoom. COCC will use this information to verify you attended, so be sure to provide your COCC email address!

How do I participate in Orientation? Do I need to download anything?
Before the event, you will need to install the free Zoom Cloud Meetings app on the device you plan to use for Orientation. App Store | Google Play | Windows | Mac

We will email you the link to join the afternoon before the event. Prior to the start time, click the link to enter your contact information and launch the event.

Do I have to pay for Zoom?
 Nope! As a COCC student, you have a free account.

What technology do I need?

To participate in Bobcat Orientation, you need an internet-ready device with audio capabilities as well as a stable internet connection. A web camera and microphone will enhance your experience but are not required.

What if I don’t have the right technology? Can I go to a COCC computer lab during Orientation?

Don't worry, we have you covered. A computer lab will be open on each campus during the dates and times of Orientation. You will need to:

Is Bobcat Orientation mobile-friendly?
Yes, you will be able to participate in Orientation from your mobile phone. For an optimal experience, we recommend a larger device such as a tablet or laptop.
