Request COCC items through Summit

Using the library catalogs of their home institutions, members of Alliance institutions may borrow any requestable item in the Barber Library collections through Summit.

(OSU students, see OSU Libraries' Summit webpage.)

Borrow COCC items directly

To check out items directly from Barber Library, active Alliance students, faculty, and staff may apply for a Summit Visiting Patron account. A Summit Visiting Patron account is necessary to borrow items that are not requestable, like technology equipment.

To apply for a Summit Visiting Patron account, bring your school ID card to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of Barber Library. Staff will ask you to...

  1. Fill out a patron registration form.
  2. Sign in to your library account for your home institution, to show that you are a currently active student, faculty, or staff member. (This is an Alliance-wide procedure. See Summit Visiting Patrons on the OBA website.)

Books, AV, & Technology

For books, DVDs, CDs, and technology equipment, the circulation policies for registered Summit Visiting Patrons are identical to the policies for COCC students, faculty, and staff. See Checking Out Library Items.

Group Study Room Keys

Registered Summit Visiting Patrons may use the group study rooms at the Barber Library in Bend. However, current COCC students, faculty, and staff have priority in the use of these rooms.

Interlibrary Loan

Summit Visiting Patrons are directed to use their home institution's Interlibrary Loan services for items not available at Barber Library.

(OSU students, see OSU Libraries' Interlibrary Loan.)

Access to COCC computers

Summit Visiting Patrons who wish to use the Library's computer workstations must sign up for a 180-day network account. After expiration, a network account may be renewed upon request.

To apply for a network account, see staff at the Circulation Desk.

Alternatively, visitors with their own laptops or mobile devices may use the Open Community wireless network, which does not require a network account. (Note: Documents cannot be sent to the Library printers over the Open Community network.)
