Brave New World

All day, everyday starting 10/4/2022 through 11/29/2022

Barber Library, Rotunda

Featuring work by mixed-media artist Lloyd McMullen.

The Bend-based artist integrates found objects into two- and three-dimensional “constructions” to serve as metaphor for persistence. A hummingbird made from a rusty can and castoff wood, a cockroach filled with plastic detritus, a big fish fashioned from discarded fishing net address a shifting world. “Every day dawns with more change,” the artist said. “My work questions how we survive and adapt. These times demand tenacity and spirit.”

McMullen is a local arts activist who has worked with Atelier 6000 and Central Oregon Arts Association and was a founding member of Artists Local 101 (local art group that founded “Trashformations,” a community art event that challenged participants to make original work from scrapyard materials.

Reception: Thursday October 13, 4 - 6 pm, Rotunda Gallery, Barber Library.
