Humanities Skills: Writing and composition, critical thinking, analysis, research, communication, empathy

Students who take a Humanities class or pursue a degree in Humanities learn skills that can be applied to a wide variety of career paths and educational goals. Examples include critical thinking, research, literary criticism, publishing and editing, and English composition.

Humanities students at COCC work closely with their advisor to develop transfer plans based on their degree and career goals. Students who complete their Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree at COCC and then complete a bachelor's degree in humanities, are prepared to launch careers in a wide variety of fields. Graduates with bachelor's degrees are qualified for a number of careers in journalism, business, nonprofits, government, education, and more.
