Online Learning and Internships

Online learning offers flexible, accessible training while second-year internships teach hands-on skills

The Health Information Management's online program at COCC is designed to be flexible and accessible for students, making it easier for those with family and work responsibilities to achieve their education. Its asynchronous format allows students to complete coursework at their own pace and on their own schedule.

"The faculty in the HIM program are outstanding. Although this is a completely remote program, they make sure to make themselves available in a variety of ways, whether to discuss the content, talk about career-related subjects, or just to get to know you." — Amy Falkenrath, COCC Health Information Management graduate

In the second year of the program, students have the opportunity to participate in a 40-hour professional practice experience, which provides applied learning in the field. COCC has partnerships with several organizations with an accredited HIM supervisor on site, including St. Charles Health System and the City of Bend ambulance service, and works with students to identify and align their preferred site with availability.
