Update Wednesday 7/27/2016
Statement from Dr. Shirley I. Metcalf
On behalf of the faculty, staff and Board of Directors of Central Oregon Community College, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kaylee Anne Sawyer. The College community is simply heartbroken. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sawyer family and all of those who knew and love Kaylee.
We cannot begin to express our sadness over the circumstances that unfolded over the last few days. I want to provide assurances that we continually review our practices and policies and that the safety and security of our students, staff, faculty and visitors is a top priority. I plan to send an update on campus safety to you later this week.
But most important, let us never lose our focus on the vibrant, young woman whose life was needlessly cut short. We stand with Kaylee’s family and friends in their grief.
Dr. Shirley I. Metcalf
