Music

Why study Music?

Creating a comprehensive learning experience in the musical arts, the Music department at COCC provides everything from core music studies in theory and history, to instrument and voice lessons, to audition-formed ensembles that bring concerts to the community. Led by accomplished and passionate faculty, the learning is supportive, personalized and inspiring. Coursework for those majoring in Music provides much of the first two years required for a bachelor’s degree, whether in audio engineering, music education or another focus area. As a literal stage for personal enrichment, the department helps students grow musical talents and even become part of unique recital experiences.

"There is no greater feeling than seeing your instruction launch a young musician in the right direction, especially when they know somebody believes in them."

Christopher Thomas, COCC Music instructor and award-winning composer
