Admitted students will be sent a welcome letter, which will include information on the following:

  • Advanced Orientation Sessions
  • Nursing Assistant Skills Review Course Nursing 98 (optional)
  • Important Dates for Nursing 106
  • Fall Term Schedule
  • Personal Work Schedule Recommendation and Requirements
  • Required Documentation
    • Background Checks - see Related Links
      • Students are required to initiate and pay for their Background Check no later than September 1, 2012
    • CPR Certification
      • Photocopy of current
        • American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR/AED or
        • American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescurer
      • Card must be valid through June, 2013
      • Cards expiring between September 2012 and June 2013 are not acceptable
      • Documentation must be turned in no later than 4:30pm on September 14, 2012
    • Immunizations and TB Test
    • You may submit your documentation:
      • At an Advanced Orientation Session or
      • September 8 - 14, 2013 to Raquel, the Nursing Department Administrator
        • Nursing Department Office, Health Careers Building, 3rd Floor
        • Monday - Friday 8:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:30
  • Financial Aid
  • Scholarship Applications
  • Required Textbooks, Supplies and Materials

Advising Requirement

  • Can I Register?
    • Once you have submitted your $50 deposit, you will be given Departmental Clearance and Advisor Clearance to register into Nursing 106.
    • Consider also registering for the elective course Nursing 98

    • The third week of fall term, you will be re-assigned to one of the Nursing Faculty Advisors. You will receive that assignment in your COCC email.

        • Apply winter term for your PN Certificate, while enrolled in Nur 107
        • Apply winter term for your RN, AAS, while enrolled in Nur 207

        • You will be eligible to walk in the ceremony twice - after completing Nursing 108 and again after completing Nursing 208
