COCC Presidential Search Update

The search for a new president at Central Oregon Community College resumes this fall. In September, the Presidential Search Advisory Committee will meet and begin the process of recruiting candidates. Comprised of members of the COCC Board of Directors; faculty, staff and students at COCC; and community members, the group will screen applicants, conduct semi-finalist interviews in December, and then recommend three to five finalists to the Board. The process will include two days of interviews for each of the finalists, scheduled for late January 2015.

Dr. James Middleton, who served as president of COCC for the past 10 years, is retiring at the beginning of September. Dr. Shirley Metcalf, the Dean of Extended Learning, will served as interim president.

In July, the Board affirmed the Presidential Profile, developed by the Presidential Search Advisory Committee last year. COCC held community input meetings throughout the District and on campus to gather input on what members of the campus and community felt was needed in the new president at COCC. That information has been used to create advertisements to run in professional journals and online.
