Fraxinus americana - White Ash

White Ash
Fraxinus americana
Family: OLEACEAE

White Ash is the most common and useful ash of all native ashes in America. It is a desirable source of wood to be used in making baseball bats, oars, and handles. The earliest recorded use for F. americana was to carry the leaves as a snake bite preventative because it had been deemed to be offensive to rattlesnakes. Its seeds are an important source of food for many animal species.
