Amur Maple
Acer ginnala
Family: ACERACEAE

Amur maple grows locally as an ornamental shrub or tree with 3-lobed, deciduous leaves that turn bright red in early autumn. Native to Russia and northern China, it occurs in thickets by riverbanks and mountain valleys. This highly adaptable species grows in a wide variety of climates and soil types, hence, its escape from cultivation in much of New England and the Midwest.
