Faculty Profiles

Sarah Fuller, Professor of Biology

Sarah Fuller
Professor of Biology

Professor Fuller has taught courses in Biology and Sustainability for more than 20 years, and at COCC since 2010. Her academic research focused on paleoecology and vegetation change in response to climate and prescribed fire management. Prior to her teaching career she worked as a restoration ecologist at the Katherine Ordway Natural History Study Area and as a plant ecologist for The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota. Sarah is an accomplished adventurer and traveler.  Her experiences abroad include Spanish Language immersion study in Guatemala and Nicaragua. She spent 3 months in the Republic of Palau focused on marine systems and first foods and worked in the Florida Keys on coral reproduction and reef restoration.  Additionally, she has led students on field education and research trips to the Oregon coast and at a variety of National Forests and Nature Preserves. Professor Fuller was awarded the Faculty Achievement Award in 2025 for her enthusiasm in both the classroom and field, introducing students to beauty and science in the natural world.
