Local Internship Opportunities with Apple

AppleAt the Apple data center in Prineville, Don Parrish's contract job in deployment services is earning more than a paycheck. His position, a post he secured through a third-party contractor, will provide 3 credits toward his Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer and Information Systems at COCC, enabling him to move closer to his academic goals while he's raising a family.

"This job will provide me with work experience, getting hands-on with equipment and becoming a better remote troubleshooter," says Parrish, whose sights are set on becoming a network engineer. "It's about understanding real-world customer work orders — not just something in a textbook."

Beyond connecting students with college credit, the CIS department also helps facilitate learning opportunities by offering direct knowledge of workplaces, such as Apple's data center, which faculty members have toured. Additionally, the program leads field trips to regional businesses with on-site networks, so students can see the latest in network systems, up close, to learn about market trends and emerging industry standards.
