Central Oregon Community College up to $10,000

Follow the physics or chemistry flightpath


Bachelor’s at the University of Oregon up to $20,000

Major in physics, chemistry, or biochemistry (2 years)


Master’s at UO Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program up to $15,000

Complete 6 to 9 months of hands-on labs, coursework, and a 9-month paid industry internship

Avg annualized internship salary in 2022 - $74,500.


Oregon Pathways to Industrial Research Careers (OPIRC) Supports efficient progression from COCC to a Master’s degree and high-paying, employment in chemistry, physics and engineering-related fields:

  • Physics – Optics, Semiconductors, Photovoltaic
  • Chemistry – Polymers, Semiconductors, Molecular Sensors & Biotechnology
  • Engineering – Optics, Semiconductors, Polymers
  • Biology/Computer Science – Bioinformatics, Genomics

Supports over the course of 4 years include:

  • Up to $45,000 in scholarships while working towards your BS and MS degrees
  • Enhanced advising from both COCC and UO faculty and staff
  • Personalized mentoring from recent BS and MS grads working in the industry and national labs
  • Cohort building to support your transition from COCC to UO
  • Career guidance and internship opportunities

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Must have a current FAFSA® on file
  • Must be eligible for Federal Pell Grants
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits per term while receiving this scholarship
  • Must be in your final year at COCC to receive this scholarship
