National Science Foundation (NSF) Scholarship for COCC Students

COCC is proud to offer a scholarship for current and future students interested in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

This National Science Foundation (NSF) scholarship provides up to $10,000 a year for up to three years for COCC students and can be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, and/or living expenses.

2024-2025 Application Deadline: Friday, May 24, 2024

This scholarship opportunity offers more than funding. Students who receive the COCC National Science Foundation scholarship and who successfully complete their program of study will be ready to enter the workforce with personalized support that includes:

  • One-on-one faculty mentoring
  • Student cohort model where all students from the same year take required classes together
  • Career workshops teaching high-demand skills such as interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional speakers from the CIS & GIS industry 
  • Connections to employers in the Central Oregon area

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a United States citizen, permanent resident, national, or refugee
  • Complete the FASFA application for financial assistance
  • Be eligible to receive a Federal PELL Grant
  • Planning or continue to enroll at least half-time at COCC (minimum of 6 credits)
  • Planning to or continue to enroll in the CIS or GIS Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs
  • Continuing students or prospective students are encouraged to apply

To maintain eligibility for this scholarship, you must:

  • Continue to be eligible to receive a Federal PELL Grant
  • Enrolled at least half-time at COCC each term (minimum of 6 credits)
  • Enrolled in the CIS or GIS Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs
  • Satisfactory academic progress
