COCC Writing Center

The Writing Center provides free Reading, Writing, and Study Skills Tutoring for all currently enrolled COCC students for the courses that they are currently taking at COCC.  You do not need to make an appointment.  Just drop by during our scheduled hours (see below). We are located on the main floor of Barber library in the Tutoring Annex.

Please also note that we only tutor for assignments for COCC classes. This means we cannot help with nursing applications, scholarships, or any other project not assigned for a COCC class.  If you want writing or editing help for applications/scholarships, OWL Purdue Online offers some great writing tips.

Contact the Writing Center Coordinator for more information: Jennifer Forbess,

Madras and Prineville:

If you are taking classes in Madras or Prineville this fall, and you need help with a writing assignment, you are welcome to see a face-to-face tutor in Redmond or Bend, or check out online tutoring! If you are a current COCC student, you can access online tutoring from any computer or device, not just COCC computers, and it's FREE! To see more information about online tutoring, click "Online Tutoring" in the menu at the top left of this screen. Contact Jennifer Forbess ( with any questions.

                                Policy Regarding Laptops

Because our tutors believe tutoring sessions go more smoothly with paper copies of written work, we politely ask that you bring a paper copy instead of having a tutor look at your essay on your laptop.

Some tutors might be willing to look at an essay on your computer, but the tutor on duty may request that you come back with a printed copy.

You will find wireless printing stations near the reference desk in Barber library!
