Muslim Journeys: Under One Sky Film and Discussion

Muslim Journeys

Tuesday, November 5, 4:30, Wille Hall, Coats Campus Center

This documentary by Jennifer Kawaja discusses the hijab, or head scarf, worn by Islamic women.  In the film, Muslim women share their experiences of prejudice and discrimination because of their decision about whether to cover their heads in accordance with Arabic custom.  Under One Sky also documents the Western perception of the veil and the pressures women feel from society to dress more “neutrally.”  Join Dr. Amy Harper, Professor of Anthropology at COCC, in a discussion after the film presentation.
