COPE Club

Are you interested in the field of psychology? Do you plan to transfer to a four-year program? Would you like to become more connected to campus, make friends or have fun? Consider checking out the COCC COPE program.

What does COPE stand for? Central Oregon Psychology Enthusiasts. It is for anyone who has an interest in the field of psychology.

How do I get involved?

Easy! Show up and come to events.  We know community college students often juggle complicated schedules, so you can participate in whatever capacity that fits your needs. You can join at any point in your academic career at COCC.

  1. Who can join? Anyone. All majors welcome! We have had art students, nursing, biology, chemisty, business, criminal justice majors and more.

  2. How to find out about what's happening on campus:

Check back on this website in the Extra credit events folder or follow my professional facebook page. There are events that are open to the larger public and events that are geared for the COPE students. To be involved in the COPE specific events, contact me at awoodell@cocc.edu or Dr. Matt Novak at mnovak@cocc.edu to get connected.

  3. To become an active COPE member:

Attend socials, volunteer to help organize events, attend events, or sign up for a project.

WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN I GET INVOLVED IN?

COPE goal is to have a mixture of academic and social events. Many of the event are designed to help students network and be prepared for transfer schools either by teaching necessary skills or providing leadership and community service opportunities for college applications. These projects and events evolve based on student interest. Past events include:

Socials
Psychology Lectures
Psychology Movie Nights
Indonesian Field Study
Heroic Imagination Project
Psychology Skills Seminars
Attending the Western Psychology Conference
Weekly Journal Club
Replication Lab
Student Showcase

If you are interested in learning more, please contact one of the COPE advisor and we will be happy to chat with you or refer you to our current club officers.
