Sports at Home

"Storm The Stairs" Race

"Storm The Stairs" will be different this year.  We will all be running from home, in solidarity, during May 29-30th. You can make this a casual, no-pressure run just to get moving, or you can make it competitive by running the normal 2 miles plus 465 stairs. Campus is still closed, and we know it will be hard to find stairs to run, so some of us will probably be running up and down the 3 steps in front of our house. Since, we are all running a different course than each other this year, please read how this will work:

  1. Register.
  2. Report Your Miles and Stairs When you complete your Storm The Stairs, please self-report the number of miles and stairs you ran in the Post Race Survey.  We will tally the total number of miles and stairs we run together as a community so we can see our unified accomplishment!  The person who runs the most stairs gets bragging rights as the winner of the only remote race of its kind in the history of COCC!  This link also has options to upload photos of your running route, your stairs, or yourself (or just tag us in your photos on social media).
  3. Log Your Movement Time in the 2020 Recreation Movement:  "Sign Up" using your @cocc.edu email to log your movement time and help us climb the ranks.  COCC Sports is part of the nation-wide 2020 Recreation Movement in partnership with NIRSA, Instagram and TikTok and over 80 other Colleges and Universities!  We are competing against other schools by logging our movement time and have been ranked as high as 11th in the nation.  You also have access to tons of FREE workout classes after registering.

T-Shirts:   As a result of limited resources, we are only able to provide Storm The Stairs T-Shirts free for students, and we will not have prizes this year.  Staff, faculty, and community members can purchase our new race t-shirt at our online store.

COCC Campus is closed. Your running route should not be completed on campus under any circumstances.  Please remember to practice social distancing, and respect any signs/rules that are displayed in the area you are running.
