TED Club: The Secret to Desire in a Long-Term Relationship

Wednesday, 2/14/2018 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Barber Library, LIB 118

Description

On Valentine's Day, COCC instructor Anne Zmyslinski-Seelig and the students of SP 270: Communicating Love will lead a discussion of the 2013 TED Talk by Esther Perel, "The Secret to Desire in a Long-Term Relationship."

In long-term relationships, we often expect our beloved to be both best friend and erotic partner. But as Esther Perel argues, good and committed sex draws on two conflicting needs: our need for security and our need for surprise. So how do you sustain desire? With wit and eloquence, Perel lets us in on the mystery of erotic intelligence.

The discussion will focus on the first ten minutes of the talk.

Coffee and treats provided!
