Gratitude and Request
My name is Christopher and my Central Oregon Community College Foundation scholarship was recently renewed, helping me complete my final year at COCC. This award continues to bring me motivation and so much positivity as I strive to succeed in college while also working to provide for my family.
After I graduate from COCC this spring, I plan to participate in Portland State University's online Bachelor of Social Work program to continue working to assist my family. They are my priority too, and will be, even as I eventually pursue a master’s degree in counseling. The shared hopes of loved ones and friends, including you, continue to keep me focused.
After my dad passed away, times were hard. While I lacked a father figure growing up, I did not let it stop me from trying to make him proud by striving for greatness and doing what I can for the good of others. My mother, who emigrated from the Philippines, single-handedly raised my sister and me in Bend. She taught us the importance of education and hard work. Although going to school and working is not the easiest, I am especially proud to maintain a 3.8 GPA at COCC. It helps that classes like “Sociology of Pop Culture” are taught by professors who want to see me succeed as an individual. I feel blessed.
So, thank you for contributing to this scholarship and believing in my potential to achieve my dreams. I am unbelievably grateful to receive this award and plan to make the most of this incredible opportunity.
Today, I ask you to make a gift to support students like me who are working hard for a better future. Any contribution, from $25, $100, $500 or even $4,350, which funds a full scholarship, changes lives. Your gift gives hope to COCC students and our families.
With sincere gratitude,
