Phase One
May 31st
This week elearning and ITS have been working on the code that will pull user, course, and enrollment data from Banner into Canvas. Early adopters can now request access to Canvas through this form on the Path to Canvas main page. Links to our Canvas content have been added to the eLearning homepage.
June 7th
More integrations have been added to Canvas, including: Cengage, Pearson, Chem101, MyOpenMath, Turnitin, Zoom, Office365, and Attendance. Faculty interested in early access (for development only) may request still request access to Canvas through this form on the Path to Canvas main page.
June 14th
elearning and ITS are continuing work on the code that will pull user, course, and enrollment data from Banner into Canvas. The default course shell for early adopters now has template content to help guide new users in adding content that aligns with Quality Matters course design quality guidelines.
The 2021 Summer Institute is scheduled to begin August 5th. Official sessions will run on Thursdays at 11AM through September 2nd. Follow up 'drop in' labs are also scheduled on each following Tuesday (8/10-9/07) at 11:30.
June 21st
New integrations added: Gradescope, Softchalk, and Redshelf Digital Learning Materials. Data provisioning continues. An archive of the 2020 Summer Institute has been migrated to Canvas in preparation for this years' series coming in August.
June 28th
eLearning spent time with Continuing Education this week, offering basic training for admin staff and program managers. Course conversation for CE is now underway. We have also begun work on integrating the non-credit enrollment system to prepare for Fall/Winter CE cohort classes.
July 5th
No major updates this week due to holiday.
July 12th
Kaltura, Redshelf, and Ally are now available in Canvas as External Tools and Features. The Canvas Summer HOT cohort has officially launched.
July 19th
eLearning meeting with Student Services stakeholders to plan a migration strategy for students.
July 26th
eLearning meeting with ITS for planning around Student Helpdesk. Summer Institute will launch next week. Final week of Phase One!
Phase Two
August 2nd
First Summer Institute session August 5th; topic: Setting Up Your Canvas Course. Continuing Education enrollment system is active in Canvas Production.
August 9th
Second Summer Institute session August 12th; topic: Grading and Assessment in Canvas.
August 16th
Third Summer Institute session August 19th topic: Regular and Substantive Interactions in Canvas.
August 23rd
Fourth Summer Institute session August 26th; topic: Using Accessibility Tools in Canvas.
August 30th
Fifth Summer Institute session September 2nd; topic: Faculty Ambassador Showcase
September 7th
Fall Kickoff session with eLearning (Spring Cleaning/Migration Prep) scheduled for September 8th, 9:35 -10:40. Zoom Info available on the Fall Kickoff Breakout Sessions page.
Faculty Return session with eLearning (Introduction to Canvas) scheduled for September 10th, 12:30-1:30. Zoom Info available on the Faculty Return pages.
September 13th
Zoom recordings available: Introduction to Canvas and Canvas Migration Preparation.
September 20th
W.W. Norton and MacMillan integrations added. Final testing on Banner data integration underway.
Continuing Education courses open for enrollment in Canvas.
September 27th
