HR Fundamentals
Has your job scope grown to include Human Resource (HR) responsibilities? In today's workplaces, many professionals oversee HR functions while multitasking across various disciplines from sales, accounting, finance, etc. This course is designed to give non-HR professionals a baseline in Human Resource management. Topics will include the fundamentals and best practices of legal issues, recruitment and selection, training and development, assessing employee performance, and motivation techniques. This course combines five interactive sessions with online homework and student-directed projects that will have a direct impact on your organization (plan on spending about three hours per week outside class on homework and projects). Meet Your Instructor: Tori Howes
Tori HowesSatoris (Tori) Howes is an associate professor of business and business program lead at Oregon State University-Cascades. Prior to joining OSU-Cascades, Dr. Howes earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Public Relations from the University of Central Missouri, her master's degree in Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology from Missouri State University, and her Ph.D. in I/O psychology from Texas A&M University. At the end of her graduate studies, she worked as a consultant in a Chicago branch of a global leadership solutions consulting firm. Dr. Howes then transferred back to academia. She is a Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). When not working, she enjoys running, golfing, and spending time with her family.
