STUDENT CONCERNS Students are encouraged to resolve the issue with the appropriate faculty or staff
member. For academic concerns, this should begin with the instructor. If the student
is not comfortable discussing directly with the instructor, the student may initiate
the concern with the appropriate department chair. If the instructor is the current
department chair, the student may initiate the concern with the appropriate instructional
dean. For non-academic concerns, the student should bring the issue to the director
of Student Life for assistance in identifying the appropriate contact. For assistance
in identifying the appropriate faculty or staff member, contact the Office of Student
Life, 541-383-7590.
PREFERRED FIRST NAMES COCC recognizes that many individuals prefer to use first names other than their legal
first name to identify themselves. In support of our commitment to creating and sustaining
a welcoming, safe and supportive environment, COCC provides students the option to
use a preferred name where possible. Please see our preferred name FAQ webpage for additional information.
LACTATION ROOMS COCC provides locations for students and employees to have access to a private space
for lactation purposes. Private, secure spaces are available in Boyle, the Barber
Library, Room 226, and in Grandview Hall, 2nd floor bathroom/shower. Click here for hours and key information.

HEY BOBCATS!
What do "Beowulf," Gran Fondos and the '62 Ferrari GTO all have in common? They all
intersect in the life of our new president, Dr. Laurie Chesley, whose background includes
British literature, a passion for road cycling, and an appreciation of classic cars.
Beginning her tenure with COCC this month, Dr. Chesley is a former English professor
who has spent nearly 20 years on the administrative side, holding leadership positions
at both two- and four-year colleges. She's also a first-generation college graduate.
Get to know her better. And scroll on for this month's vitals. IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES July 4: All campuses will be closed for the holiday.
SUMMER TERM DEADLINES July 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Tuition payment deadline and end of refund for full-term
classes. (The Boyle Education Center main office will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., despite
normal Friday closures during the summer.) Aug. 9, 1 p.m.: Last day to drop full-term classes with no grade on transcript. Last
day to change to/from audit or add classes. (Offices will be closed on this Friday,
but phone lines will be open.)
FALL TERM REGISTRATION Students continuing from Spring term Registration for Fall term is now open. If you are not yet registered, we encourage
you to do so right away! Check to see if you have an advising or other requirement
in your Bobcat Web Account (go to Student Services, Registration, and "Can I Register?"). If you have an advising
requirement, you should e-mail your advisor with information about your degree goal
and class selection. However, faculty advisors are not on contract during the summer
and many are inaccessible. In that case, contact CAP Services at 383-7200 for advising.
New students Registration opens at 8 a.m. on July 10 for degree-seeking students who are first-time
students during Summer term and wish to register for Fall term (non-degree-seeking
students can register beginning Sept. 5). Check to see if you have an advising or
other requirement in your Bobcat Web Account (go to Student Services, Registration, and "Can I Register?"). If you have an advising
requirement, contact CAP Services at 383-7200 for an appointment. FINANCIAL AID The 2019-20 FAFSA and ORSAA are available for students who plan to attend COCC between July 1, 2019,
and June 30, 2020. Early submissions have the best chance to receive the maximum aid.
Students not eligible to complete the FAFSA may apply for the ORSAA. A completed ORSAA is required for students who may be eligible for the Oregon Opportunity
Grant, Oregon Promise, OSAC scholarships and the COCC Foundation Scholarship. Attend
a workshop for help. COCC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE COMING UP: July 15 The Foundation offers nearly 400 awards totaling $1.6 million. See the Foundation Scholarship application.
SCHOLARSHIP RENEWALS Students currently receiving a COCC Foundation Scholarship may be eligible for renewal
if they met all the criteria in their original acceptance letter; students who qualify
for renewal do not need to complete a new Foundation Scholarship application. Renewal
letters are mailed in early July.
FALL TERM PRIORITY DEADLINE If you are attending fall term, Financial Aid will give priority consideration to
those students completing and submitting their requirements by August 15. ACADEMIC RESOURCES COLLEGE CATALOG GOES ONLINE COCC is excited to announce that the catalog is now online! View all programs and courses and learn about guidelines for enrollment, financial
aid, and student support services, among other general information. A few reasons
to love the new online catalog: it's searchable, mobile-responsive, ADA-accessible,
available online 24/7, and environmentally sustainable. Check it out!
MAKE A MATH ADJUSTMENT An "Adjust My Placement" math class option for Fall term is being offered as a one-credit
class (taken pass/no-pass) to refresh and review math skills. The purpose is for students
to achieve success in a higher-level course than they originally placed. Contact Kathy Smith at 541-383-7418.
CAREER CLOSE-UPS Take a peek at COCC's health care careers in a one-hour info session. Find out more
about the dental assistant, massage therapy, medical assistant, vet tech and pharmacy
