Curriculum Committee Charge

The Curriculum Committee is a sub-committee of the Academic Affairs Committee and will review all new proposals and revisions to credit curriculum and academic programs. Academic programs include all transfer and Career and Technical programs.

Among its primary functions the Curriculum Committee will:

  1. Approve additions, suspensions, and modifications to credit courses (which may include direction on learning outcomes and assessment tasks, credit and contact hours, course descriptions, prerequisites) and programs (which may include direction on learning outcomes and course mapping, general education and related instruction, prerequisites and sequencing, and state definitions of degrees and certificates).
  2. Ensure that COCC curriculum adheres to College, state, and accreditation standards and policies.
  3. Assist and support faculty in development and improvement of curriculum.

Accepted for Submission
All curriculum forms and materials should be sent to curriculum@cocc.edu. Materials will be reviewed for completion and accuracy before accepted for submission.

New Programs and all associated changes
All new programs proposals and any course additions or revisions associated with the new program are due December 2, 2016.

All changes not associated with a new program
All curriculum proposals accepted for submission on or before December 23, 2016 will be considered priority and if approved, will be assured implementation in the 2017-18 academic year/Catalog.

All curriculum proposals accepted for submission after December 23 but before January 20, 2017 will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis and will be eligible for implementation in the 2017-18 academic year/Catalog if they receive final approval before 2017 spring break. Proposals received before January 20 but approved after 2017 spring break may be eligible for implementation in the 2018-19 academic year/Catalog.

Curriculum proposals received after January 20, 2017 will be eligible for implantation in the 2018-19 academic year/Catalog.

Learning Outcome Changes Only
Changes to course or program learning outcomes only must be accepted for submission on or before April 14, 2017 to be implemented in the 2017-18 academic year/Catalog.

Course Inactivations
Course inactivations only must be accepted for submission on or before April 14, 2017 to be implemented in the 2017-18 academic year/Catalog. Inactivations that will require changes to other courses or programs must adhere to the course and program deadlines.
