Academic Figure Painting Oil/Charcoal
This course is designed to take students of any level of drawing, assign projects with appropriate difficulty, and graduate them through increasingly challenging projects so that the student and instructor may see measurable progress. In-class time will focus on studying the live model (by both quick studies and more finished drawings), but will be supplemented by simpler work such as copying the work of old master drawings. Individual critiques as well as demonstrations by the instructor will insure that the student has many opportunities to ask questions and talk about their own work. Topics of discussion will include human anatomy and physiognomy, form, shapes, proportions, light effect, dry and wet techniques, and art history. Materials are required for this class. Please see “Materials List” instructions on page 55 of the schedule or request by email: email@example.com. Bring a portable easel and weekly model fee (approx. $2-$5) each week.
