Abundant in Oregon, this oak occupies dry to moist sites in valleys and lower foothills from SW British Columbia to north-central California. Oregon white oak is the only oak native to Washington and B.C. The protein-rich foliage is palatable to wildlife and livestock and the abundant, nutrient-rich acorns are valuable to many birds and mammals. It is a vigorous tree that is capable of sprouting after damage by fire or cutting.
