I am a student working on my teaching degree from Eastern Oregon University through Oregon State University-Cascades campus at Central Oregon Community College.

Welcome to my term project page, which contains a comparative study of Tsitsi Dangarembga's novel titled, Nervous Conditions and Claire Denis' film Chocolat.  After reviewing each of these works I have created a discussion of common themes, objects, and ideas included with their connections to historical fiction. In addition, to my comparative study, I have also provided an annotated bibliography of useful sources that might assist others in researching these subjects.
The intention of this project is to demonstrate a combination of prose writing on the web, website construction, and the analysis of historical fiction; for the classes
WR 316:Advanced Prose Writing and ENG 339:Literary Genres.

Primary Sources:

  • Dangarembga, Tsitsi. Nervous Conditions. Seattle, WA: The Seal Press, 1989.

  • Chocolat (France-Cameroon-Germany, 1988) Dir. Claire Denis. In French with English subtitles. Run-time:106 min.
