Study Abroad programs at COCC with the Oregon International Education Consortium


Spring Quarter in London
Study in the exciting and beautiful British capital, rich in art, music, theater and history.  COCC, as a member of the Oregon International Education Consortium, offers a 10-week program with tours, culture class, and several academic courses in music fundamentals, understanding music, history of rock music, and probably world history.  With sufficient enrollment, the program will also include courses in creative writing, literature and folklore. (Alternates every other year with Barcelona)  Application deadline for Spring 2014 is December 6, 2013.

Four Weeks in Costa Rica
Study Spanish during a two-week homestay and earn 4 transfer credits; then earn another 4 credits in two weeks of field biology at mountainous Ecolodge San Luis, at the Pacific-side Organization of Tropical Studies field station at Palo Verde, and at La Selva in the lowland tropical forest.  Please click on the link to review specific dates and costs for 2013.   Program for 2014 is in the planning phase  


Spring Quarter in Barcelona 

Study in the Mediterranean capitol of Catalonia. Explore a city as old as its Roman roots and medieval center, but as new as its Gaudi park, nouveau art architecture and 1992 Olympic make-over. This new ten-week program offers activities and courses in Spanish culture, language, modern European history, early American history (including Spain's influences) and mass communications. With sufficient enrollment, additional courses available in humanities. Alternates every other year with London: next offered in Spring 2015. 

Fall Quarter in Florence
Enjoy a European experience in the heart of a Renaissance city while pursuing your community college education in Italian language, film, drama, creative writing.  With sufficient enrollment, the program will also include courses in intercultural communication, gender and communication and public speaking.  Next offered Fall 2014, look for applications in Winter 2014.

Gilman International Scholarship Program
Up to $5,000 is available to students who are currently receiving a Pell Grant for their education at COCC.  Our last survey showed that one in three applicants receives an award, which averages $3,500. Scholarship application deadline for the Spring 2014 program in London is October 1, 2013; the deadline for a scholarship for the Summer 2014 program in Costa Rica will likely be in March of 2014.
