ASCOCC Purpose to Support Clubs
For hundreds of years in both the European and the US college and university system, it is has been recognized that not all-important learning takes place in the classroom. Learning which is just as relevant to student’s academic, vocational and personal development takes place outside the classroom: on the athletic field, in the music room and in the planning and implementing of a club activity or program. Participation in student clubs and organizations fosters organizational, communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, planning, budgeting, conflict resolution and evaluation skills, just to name a few. The reason clubs and organizations exist at Central Oregon Community College is to support and foster a student's academic and personal growth and development, both inside and outside of the classroom, through involvement, commitment and personal discovery.
Clubs change each year depending upon the amount of student interest in and adviser involvement with each.
If you are interested in starting a student club, feel free to contact the ASCOCC office at 541-383-7595 or via email at ascocc@cocc.edu. In order to be eligible for funding through student fees, a club must meet certain criteria.
Thank you for supporting the Associated Students of Central Oregon Community College!
