STRIVE - "Summer Training to Revive Indigenous Vision and Empowerment"

STRIVE is a Summer Academic Program for Native American High School Students from Madras, Redmond and Warm Springs Alternative School.  The camp is funded by grants from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation and the Associated Students of Central Oregon Community College. Thanks to their genorosity the camp is FREE to all particpants.

This year's camp begins on Sunday, August 11 and ends on Saturday, August 17. Students will stay at the Residence Hall on the Bend COCC Campus during the week.

This year we have scheduled classes in Pre-College Success, Poetry and Avoiding Risky Behaviours. We also have a wonderful cadre of current Native American college students helping lead and mentor. Some of our afternoon activities include a night-time hike to Pine Mountain Observatory, an afternoon at Prineville Reservoir and Leadership Skill Building with Wanderlust.

Applications are due July 26. If you have any questions or wish to participate, please contact Gina Ricketts/Native American Program Coordinator at COCC at 541-318-3782 or rricketts@cocc.edu .
