Native American Summer Program

STRIVE - "Summer Training to Revive Indigenous Vision and Empowerment"

August 21-24, COCC Bend Campus

STRIVE is a residential summer leadership symposium program for Native American high school students on the Central Oregon Community College Campus in Bend.

The goal of STRIVE is to provide cultural and academic support and give young Native American students leadership skills.

We invite students to spend the week attneding academic and cultural classes and take part in various activities and field trips all designed to encourage and give skills to our youth who have college as a dream.

Students take classes from college professors in a culturally relevant manner. They stay in the residence halls as we introduce them to college culture. Students meet with successful Native American college students and develop positive mentoring relationships. Students particpate in various leadership activities to prepare them for the roles we hope they can fulfill in their communmities.

If you are interested in attending or teaching in next year's program, please contact Gina Ricketts/Native American Program Coordinator at COCC at 541-318-3782 or rricketts@cocc.edu .
