Can We Talk About White Privilege?  Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack

Wednesday, April 30, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Multicultural Center

Facilitated by Mindy Williams, Humanities, COCC

Join in this exploration of the idea of white privilege through the lens of Peggy McIntosh’s seminal essay “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack.” McIntosh challenges readers to consider the often hidden benefits afforded to whites and raises many crucial questions about what it means to be white in a society that may consider itself to be “post-racial,” but where both individual and institutional incidents of racism continue to occur daily.
