FAQ For the Massage Therapy Program
- When can I register for the massage program? It is a first
come-first serve enrollment in the massage therapy program once the
reading, writing, and math placements are met.
- Reading & Writing place in WR 65,75, or 95
- Math Place in MTH 20 or higher
- What does it costs?
- Program costs are based on regular COCC tuition + a program fee
of $88 per LMT class credit. All LMT courses are
approximately $165 per LMT
credit
- This pays all the costs involved with our program including
instructor wages, supplies, and all related costs for instruction
of massage therap
- Will financial aid pay for massage therapy classes?
- YES, speak to you financial aid contact
- How do I start the process?
- Enroll at COCC
- Take the placement test OR provide transcripts
- Contact the program director for advising with your placement
scores and clearance to enroll in LMT classes
- What classes do I have to take?
- You must take all of the classes in each block each term* (see
the Massage Therapy list of block classes)
- You must take the BI 121 & 122 Anatomy and Function
OR BI 231, 232, 233 to move forward in the
list of massage classes.

BI 121 & 122 will not transfer
ii. BI 231, 232, 233 will transfer to a 4 yr
university
- The BA 150 or BA 101 class may taken in any term
- MTH 31 is recommended to meet the math requirement for
the 1 yr certificate
- Can I just take a few classes and see if I like it or not?
- NO, the program is not set up to accommodate this request
- We would suggest you take LMT 95 to see if a massage career is
for you that is offered four times a year
- If you have special needs or concerns, please contact the

- Do I need a massage table before I start?
- No, you will not need a table until the second term
classes
- Massage supplies are available at the COCC bookstore including
massage tables
- Why do I have to be cleared for registration to take a class in
the massage program?
- YES, our massage therapy classes are closed to students not
approved and enrolled in the LMT program
- Only the LMT Program Director can clear you for LMT program
classes
- You are cleared for all regularly scheduled COCC classes by
your assigned advisor
- Doesn't my advisor clear me for COCC classes?
- Regular advisors clear students for regularly scheduled COCC
classes, but only the LMT program
director can clear you for specific massage program
LMT courses
- What is the dress code for massage therapy?
- Please refer to the LMT Student Handbook for dress code
requirements for the massage program
- Royal blue scrubs will be required for all student clinic
courses only
- Black clothing is required for the Spa courses
