Pull-Through Delimber

Pull through delimbers are landing-based delimbers. Not as fast stroke delimbers, these machines, however, are much less expensive to buy and operate, often costing less than one-quarter what a new stroke delimber would cost. Where production needs are in line with these machines capabilities, they can be quite economical.

The pull through delimber is trailer mounted and consists of an engine to provide hydraulic power which operates the delimbing blades and the bucking chain saw. These are contained in the vertical structure on the right side of the image below.

This type of delimber operates with a hydraulic shovel loader which provides the pull-through power. Grasping a tree by the butt end, the shovel loader places the tree into the open knives of the pull through delimber. Activating the delimber, closes the knives and the shovel pulls the tree through, severing the limbs. At the right length, the bucking saw cuts off a log.
