Calked Boots

Calked boots are required wear if you are going to walk on logs, on steep, brush covered slopes, and in the wet conditions of the western forests. They are required gear in many states and provinces OSHA laws. Although you can't see the spikes in the bottom of these boots, you can believe that they are there. You can buy boots with different size calks depending on the type of timber you will be working in.

Note the other typical gear of the logger: hard hat (required safety equipment), long sleeve shirt or jacket stagged, heavy weave work pants, and gloves. Pretty wet, rainy and foggy, typical Oregon Douglas-fir forest weather.
