Use Google Scholar to Find Library Resources

Quick Overview: Use the familiar interface of Google Scholar to find scholarly articles related to your topic, then find out if the COCC Barber Library has those articles or not!

Access Google Scholar

The easiest way to find Google Scholar is to do a Google search for "Google Scholar."

Link Google Scholar to COCC Barber Library Resources

To link Google Scholar to COCC Barber Library resources, you need to make some settings changes. You only need to do this once, but you will need to do it on every computer you work on.

1. Click on the "Settings" option at the top right of the screen.

2. Click on the "Library links" option on the left menu.

3. Search for "Central Oregon Community College."

4. Check the box beside "Central Oregon Community College - Full Text @ COCC."

5. Save your changes.

Search Google Scholar & Get Full Text

1. Enter your search terms.
2. When your results come up, if the Barber Library has full-text access to an article you want, you'll see the "Full Text @ COCC" label next to the article.

3. Click on the "Full Text @ COCC" link to go to the full-text of the article.

If you see an article you want and it doesn't have the "Full-Text @ COCC" label, Google Scholar also works with our Interlibrary Loan system to help you quickly make a request for the article. You need to have an Interlibrary Loan account already set up for this to work. To register for an Interlibrary Loan account, visit the Interlibrary Loan page and click on the link for First Time Users.
Then, follow these steps to place a request from Google Scholar:

1. Click on the "More" button just below the article title and summary.

2. Click on "Resources @ COCC."

3. Click on the "Request through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) link.

4. Log in with your ILL user name and password.

5. The ILL system fills out the request for you. Just click "Submit Request."

6. Your article will be delivered to you via email and the ILL system. Most articles are delivered within 1-5 business days of the request being placed. If your requested article cannot be obtained for some reason, you will receive an email from our ILL department.
