Casey Husk
After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Casey decided that the only way to reach his goals was through higher education. This realization led him to Central Oregon Community College.
Three years later, he had developed the study skills and discipline necessary to achieve his goal of one day practicing medicine internationally. Through the support and guidance of his instructors at COCC, he was able to set up a medical exchange opportunity for pre-medical students and physicians. For the past two years, he took small groups of students to urban Ecuador for two months’ of hands-on medical experience, culture and Spanish language immersion.
Now in his first term at Oregon State University, Casey feels confident in his ability to find academic success, and hopes to work with the university to establish an OSU-sponsored medical exchange program. Casey was recently chosen as one of COCC’s members of the 2013 All-Oregon Academic Team.
