COCC Foundation Executive Director
Jim Weaver received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from San Diego State University. He minored in journalism and graduated with high honors, distinction in the field, and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society.
Prior to coming to Central Oregon Community College Mr. Weaver was employed as the Director of Community Relations and Development for the Hearts Institute of Spokane from 1996 - 2001 where he was responsible for a full range of community relations initiatives for a $9,000,000 organization, serving 1.4 million people within a 150-mile radius. He supervised four staff in addressing community relations/public affairs, media relations, community and professional education, and fund-raising.
From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Weaver served as the Director of Development for the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation in Eugene, Oregon where he worked directly with twelve board members, and independently elicited gift commitment for capital and endowment campaign, as well as direct service needs of the hospital.
From 1987 to 1993, he served as the Campaign Director for the United Way of Lane County in Eugene, Oregon. He was responsible for management of all fund raising activities, including, design, planning, organization, and implementation of $2,200,000 annual campaign.
His voluntary activities include board member and President-elect for Rotary in Eugene and Spokane; Member and Chairman, Health Care Committee, Chamber of Commerce in Spokane; Board member and President-elect, Inland Northwest Development Council; and Board member and Secretary of Executive Committee, Lane Memorial Blood Bank.
