TIME LINE FOR SERIALS CUTS:
January 2003:
- Department Serials Allocations spreadsheet created.
- First E-mail sent to Dept. Heads listing journals and
prices for each department area. Faculty asked
to identify items for possible cuts.
February 2003:
- Second e-mail sent to Dept. Heads listing journals,
full text availability and cycles. Faculty again asked to identify items
for possible cuts.
- Follow up e-mails and calls with department heads and
faculty.
- Draft webpage identifying serials to be cut published
to Library
- Draft webpage identifying serials to be cut published
to Campus
March 2003:
- Items to be cut "out of cycle" researched for refund
possibilities.
June 2003:
- Items to be cut "in cycle" identified in EBSCO
subscriptions renewal form in June.
- Discontinued subscriptions effective various dates from
Summer 03 through Spring 04.
Addendum, July 2003:
- Add up actual cuts on Ebsco renewal form (some serials
identified for cutting may not be immediately cancelable.)
- If actual cuts come in under $5000, add additional cuts
from "potential (violet) list that are cancelable.
- Regardless of total amount, identify additional cuts
from "potential" list that correspond to programs that have been discontinued
or are clearly now inappropriate for the COCC Library periodicals collection.
Keep these additional cuts to a minimum.
