The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is the accreditation body for Northwest area institutions of higher education. Accreditation requirements help institutions develop a culture of evidence to effectively demonstrate progress towards institutional mission fulfillment. Each college is required to establish core themes and core theme objectives - statements that comprise the essential elements of the mission and further guide the activities of the College. In order to evaluate successful achievement of objectives and ultimately core themes, indicators and benchmarks are also established. Determining institutional priorities for student success strategies, and focusing resources towards those strategies, will have a positive impact on the College meeting accreditation benchmarks.
The College's Strategic Planning Committee and Core Theme Teams are working to better align accreditation requirements with College planning, including adopting one set of objectives and indicators to be used for both purposes. Work on this effort will continue into the implementation and assessment phases of strategic planning.
