Who are our Personal Counselors?
Sharon Richards has a Bachelors Degree in Health Care Management and a Masters Degree in Social Work, both from the University of New England. She is a licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the mental health field since 1995. During an 8-year period working at Deschutes County Mental Health, she did substance abuse and mental health evaluations, counseled with kids in various Central Oregon schools, family counseling, individual child & adult counseling and crisis work. Since working for St. Charles Medical Center, she has done crisis work in the Emergency Room as well as individual counseling with adults. Sharon has been a Personal Counselor in the COCC CAP Center since 2007. She has primarily focused on issues such as depression, stress & anxiety, organization/ time management and trauma resolution with students. However, she is open to working with most issues that a student may bring to counseling. Sharon is available to COCC students, by appointment, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the CAP Center.
Robin Vickery has a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from the University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Portland State University. She is also a licensed Clinical Social Worker. Robin worked for Deschutes County Mental Health for 21 years, in a variety of positions (including case management for adults with severe and persistent mental illness, participation on the crisis team, and provider of short-term solution-based therapy). She has been at St. Charles for 7 years, first as an emergency department social worker providing mental health assessments, and then in an outpatient setting providing therapy to adults and teens. Robin has been a Personal Counselor in the COCC CAP Center since January 2012, she also attended COCC for her first two years of college. Robin is available to COCC students, by appointment, on Wednesdays in the CAP Center.
