New Student Advising

You are ready for New Student Advising when:

Green check You are new to college OR you have fewer than 20 transfer credits
Green check You have already Applied to COCC 
Green check You have made arrangements for providing Placement Information

Already have 20 or more college credits? 

If you already have 20 or more college credits, please follow the Transfer to COCC guidelines. 

Sign up for New Student Advising

The Getting Started page provides information on when and how to sign up for New Student Advising.

At New Student Advising, you will:

  • Complete the New Student Workbook
  • Evaluate your placement scores
  • Work in small groups with an advisor
  • Plan your first term courses
  • Register for classes
  • Get answers to academic questions
  • Take 2-3 hours to complete

New student advising is offered at the start of new student registration each term and continues until the new term begins; students are encouraged to arrange for their earliest new student session. Options are provided in Bend, Redmond, and usually Prineville and Madras each term.
