- Prepare students to become technicians in wildfire prevention and suppression, as well as, fuels and vegetation management.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills
- Develop the tools for all levels of decision making and seek information to improve decision making in wildland fire suppression and management.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the basic field strategy and tactics that relate to various kinds of specific fire situations;
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of fundamental leadership principles.
- Demonstrate safe work practices/behaviors as outlined in LCES.
Use the ICS to manage an incident or event.
Describe the interaction of fuels, weather, and topography on wildland fire behavior, fireline tactics, and safety.
Interpret, communicate, apply, and document wildland fire behavior and weather information.
Students will meet the standards set forth by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group under the Wildland Qualifications System.
