What to Leave Behind
Keep in mind that space is limited. We recommend that you put all your essential items in a pile in the middle of your bedroom at home and then bring only half.
Cleaning Materials:
- Air fresheners/Febreeze
- 409/Windex
- Duster/Small vacuum
- Lint roller
- Laundry detergent and fabric softener
- Laundry basket (preferably one that folds up easily)
- Broom/dust pan
Bedding/Bath Items:
- Towels (bath, hand, washcloth)
- Robe
- Shower caddy (to carry shower supplies from room to bathroom)
- Flip-flops
- Twin sheets
- Mattress topper (feather bed/memory foam/egg crate topper/etc.)
- Comforter/Blankets/Pillows
- Small mirror
Decorations:
- Posters
- Pictures (of family, friends, favorite things, etc.)
- Picture frames
- Masking tape/sticky tack/3M Removable strips -to hang decorations
Entertainment:
- Magnetic Dart Board
- Nerf Basketball Hoop (can usually hang over door)
- Cards
- iPod or some other mp3 device (and accessories)
- Headphones
- Magnetic Poetry Kits
- Television/ TV stand (small enough to fit in a residence hall room-entertainment centers are usually too big-wheels are good)
- VCR/DVD player (and VHS tapes and DVDs
Snacks/Food:
- Candy
- Popcorn/Crackers/Chips
- Bottled Water
- A few dishes (bowl, plate, silverware, plastic containers)
- Glasses and cups
School Supplies:
- Computer
- Computer speakers - please leave your system with tweeters and subwoofers at home

- Jump Drive/Memory Stick
- Desk organizers
- Paper/pens/pencils/notebooks/binders/etc.

Bend's climate is typical of the high desert with cool nights and sunny days. Annual precipitation averages between 10-13 inches, which is part of the average snowfall of 34 in.
A typical Central Oregon summer is marked with daily temperatures around 80-90 °F during the day, and around 40-50 °F during the night. Hard frosts are not unheard of during the summer months.
Autumn usually brings warm, dry days and cooler nights, and Bend is known for its annual Indian summer. The winter season in Bend provides typical daytime temperatures between 30-50 °F. Average nighttime temperatures range anywhere from 22-51 °F.
