Herb Meyer Nov. 4

The COCC Foundation’s Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholar Program is presenting a lecture by Herb Meyer entitled “What in the World is Going On? A Global Intelligence Briefing,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend. Tickets are on sale at the Tower Theatre box office.

In this presentation, Meyer will discuss today’s leading national security, economic and cultural issues and those that will shape the remainder of the 21st century.

Meyer served as special assistant to the director of Central Intelligence and vice chairman of the CIA's National Intelligence Council during the Reagan Administration. He is widely credited with being the first senior U.S. government official to forecast the Soviet Union's collapse, for which he later was awarded the U.S. National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the intelligence community's highest honor. Formerly an associate editor of Fortune magazine, he has authored several books, including “The War against Progress,” “Real-World Intelligence” and “Hard Thinking.”

Tickets cost $20 for premium seating and $10 for general seating. The program is presented in collaboration with Vistage International. For information, contact 383-7257.
