The annual COCC First Nations Student Union Salmon Bake is scheduled for June 1st, 2013 here on the COCC Bend Campus. This is a FREE event although donations are accepted for the First Nations Scholarship Fund. The event begins at 10 am and features the Aztec Dancers, the youth dancers from the Burns Paiute, the Umatilla Dancers, the Warm Springs Dancers and Eagle Thunder Drum group. Ed Edmo, Shoshone/Bannock/Nez Perce storyteller will also be joining us for various performances throughout the day. Salmon cooked in the traditional Warm Springs way will be served at noon along with fry bread from Sheena Courtney, beans and venison stew - this meal is also FREE. This year's event will be held outside on the Athletic Field, some awnings will be available for shade, but please bring plenty of water and sunscreen. We will also have a variety of Native American vendors present selling beautiful crafts, jewelry and more. Raffle tickets are available to purchase for donations made by our generous vendors. Questions? Call Gina Ricketts, Native American Program Coordinator at COCC at 541-318-3782.
