Intro to a Massage Career
LMT 095
An introductory course will allow a student to explore the
education and academic requirements of the LMT program and the
requirements for massage therapy licensure in Oregon.
Kinesiology I
LMT 113
An introduction and overview of the basic principles of
kinesiology. Emphasis is place on anatomical terminology, skeletal
anatomy and function, and the study of the joints and their
functions. Palpation skills will be emphasized. This is the first
part of a four part series of Kinesiology for massage therapists.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of One of the following:

Kinesiology II
LMT 118
The study of the muscles of the that will include attachments,
actions, nerves, JOINTS and the boney landmarks. Palpation skills
will be emphasized. This is the second of a four part series of
Kinesiology for massage therapists. PREREQUISITE: COMPLETION OF LMT

Kinesiology IV

The study of the muscles that will include attachments, actions,
nerves, and the boney landmarks. Palpation skills will be
emphasized. This is the last of a four part series of Kinesiology

Massage Fundamentals
LMT 130
Will introduce the student to the fundamental skills needed to
lay the foundation of an entry level massage therapist. These
skills will include: the history of massage, positive body
mechanics, basic medical terminology, universal sanitation
precautions, draping, communication, and the effects Swedish
massage strokes. PREREQUISITE: Completion of One of
the following: BI 12 OR, 122 OR 231

Pathology
LMT 140
The study of basic Indications and the effects of massage
therapy on the body systems. Contraindications to massage therapy
will be discussed. The basic mechanisms of the disease process and
medical terminology will be reviewed.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of One of the
following: BI 121 OR 122 OR 231 OR 232

Massage I
LMT 145
This course will build the fundamental Swedish massage
techniques and SOAP charting skills as required for an entry-level
massage therapist. The theory of massage, physiological effects,
and the practical application will be incorporated into the
development of a massage therapy routine. PREREQUISITE: LMT 130,
LMT 170
Massage II
LMT 150
Students progress to level II by learning how to do basic
assessment of a client and how to design a treatment plan. Students
learn the theory and practice of various modalities; sports, deep
tissue, trigger point therapy, muscle energy technique, and PNF
stretching. PREREQUISITE: LMT 145, LMT 118
Eastern Theory and Practice
LMT 155
This course has been designed to provide massage students a
fundamental introduction to eastern philosophy, complimentary
healing techniques, and acupressure points. This course will focus
primarily on traditional Chinese Medicine as the model is the most
comprehensive and philosophically neutral.
Hydrotherapy
LMT 160
Introduces the principles and techniques of water in its three
forms: solid, liquid and vapor while working within the massage
therapy profession. Prerequisite LMT 145
Professional Ethics and Rules
LMT 170
Introduces and examines the professional boundaries, ethics,
rules, and laws that govern the practice of massage therapy. Oregon
Administrative Rules and Statures that apply to licensed massage
therapists will be discussed.
Clinic I
LMT 175
Students will practice basic relaxation massage on the general
public while demonstrating professionalism, client communication,
client contact, and client safety during this supervised clinic.

Clinic II*

Students will practice treatment and relaxation massage on the
general public. SOAP charting, treatment plans, and assessments
will be practiced. Students will demonstrate professionalism,
client communication, client constant, and client safety during
this supervised clinic. PREREQUISITE: LMT 150

Selected Topics related to Massage Therapy
Advanced Clinic
LMT 210
A case study and discussion class for advanced treatments
students. Internships and/or a public clinic may be available for
the students to practice their treatment skills. Recommended
prerequisite: one year certificate, LMT, or other related health
professional.
Neuromuscular Treatments
LMT 240
Advanced myofasical coursework that focuses on the treatment of
specific injuries and conditions that fall within the scope of
practice of a massage therapist. Treatment protocols will be
practiced. This class will be offered in two sections, TRUNK and
EXTREMITIES. Recommended prerequisite: one year certificate,
LMT, or other related health professional.
Cranio Sacral
LMT 250
This class will offer a Craniosacral approach to massage therapy
and with an emphasis on relevant anatomy. Recommended
prerequisite: one year certificate, LMT, or other related health
professional.
Shiatsu
LMT 255
Zen Shiatsu history, basic theory, and techniques used in this
massage modality will be introduced. This class will offer hands-on
experience while working with a clothed client in the style of
Shizuto Masunaga. Recommend prerequisite LMT 155, LMT 130
Spa Treatments
LMT 260
This course will focus
on treatments commonly used in spa facilities. A
variety of spa treatments will be practiced in class. Spa visits
may be incorporated into this course. Contraindications, hygiene,
sanitation, and spa etiquette will be included. Recommended
prerequisite: one year certificate, LMT, or other related health
professional.
Sports Massage
LMT 265
Introduces the principles and techniques of massage as it
relates to sports and exercise. Deep Tissue and Muscle Energy
Techniques specific to athletes are explored. Relevant anatomy,
physiology, assessmant are included that may assist in the
rehabiltation of sports injuries. PREREQUISITE: LMT 150
Clinical Assessments
LMT 270
This is a non-treatment course that will evaluate and assess
ROM, posture, gait and soft tissue injury when determining massage
therapy treatment options.
Students taking advance treatment courses are advised to enroll.
Recommended prerequisite: one year certificate, LMT, or other
related health professional.
Effective Office Decisions
LMT 245
This course will explore insurance billing, retail selling,
target marketing, bookkeeping, credentialing, and other issues a
massage practice may encounter. Recommended prerequisite: one
year certificate, LMT, or other related health
professional.
Integrated Therapies
LMT 295
This course will enhance an student's skills and techniques when
utilizing appropriate modalities best suited for a holistic massage
session. The history, cultural aspects, and benefits these
modalities will be examined. Recommended prerequisite: one year
certificate, LMT, or other related health professional.
Special Studies
LMT 288
Specific course work related to massage
therapy. Recommended prerequisite: one year certificate,
LMT, or other related health professional.

*LMT 180 Clinic II will be schedule as an all day class with
a lunch break between the 2nd and
3rd massage session. This will mirror a typical
