File Storage Management
COCC Faculty/Staff share limited network storage space resources, thus all COCC employees are responsible to maintain and monitor their allocated share of the resources.
What is a reasonable amount of file storage?
Current resources require that each staff member maintain their Documents file storage at 5 GB (Gigabytes) or less. Many faculty and staff will be able to keep their Documents storage use to under 2 GB (Gigabytes) with periodic monitoring and maintenance. This webpage is intended to provide guidelines to conduct file storage cleanup activities. Personal items such as music, videos and graphics are not to be stored on COCC network storage.
How to identify where your files are stored
From your computer, you can store files on your computer (C:\ drive), or on our network storage space in your Documents or Department folder. If you are not sure where your files are stored, please review this document to help you get acquainted with COCC's file storage options:

Keep your Documents and Department storage space usage at a reasonable level
At least once a year, you should review your Documents folder and do the following. Note each item has a hyperlink to helpful reference information.
1. Find out how much network space you are using
2. Remove any personal music, video, photos or files

3. Find and delete files that you no longer need
4. Archive or delete files as required by retention guidelines
5. Empty your Recycle Bin
